7/4/24 - Not Much But a Lot
To explain the title, I’m not going to write much right here, but a lot has happened since my last post nearly 2 months ago. And a lot of the “a lot” has been writing, which is why I’ll be avoiding doing too much of that, here and now.
Fortunately I’ve done my presentation for my TPR, and handed in the paper. TPR stands for Thesis Proposal Review. This is a 1-year milestone PhD students have to do, to show what they’ve been doing, how their plans have changed (if they have) and why, and what their plans are for the rest of the PhD. Me being me, I had a lot to say, so the presentation itself, given at the ANU Music School a week and a half ago, was both the TPR and a Research Seminar in order to make it ok that it was a little lengthy and that it included a bit more about my works and processes than was really necessary for a TPR. Anyway, if you’d like to check these out, you can find them in the “Words & Links” tab of this website.
I’ve also been auditing a subject at the ANU Fenner School for the Environment, called Indigenous Cultural and Natural Resource Management. As it isn’t a postgraduate level course I couldn’t do it for credit, hence the auditing, however I am doing another subject called Readings in Indigenous Studies for credit, in which I’m using the readings from the Fenner School subject as my reading list which I’ll be drawing from to write an essay later in the semester. Right now I have no idea what that will be about. Figuring that out is on the “to do” list.
Even though my brain is a bit weary now, it was very good to get back into what I’m doing and why, by doing my TPR and presentation. It was a good thought-collector, and a look back on the fact that I have actually been doing a lot. I’ve gotten a lot done and I still feel really good about the whole thing.
